Our Story

Located in Godley, TX, Chisholms Restaurant has been serving homemade American cuisine for the past 19 years.

Nearly 20 years ago, Jeff and Pam Bachhofer were in the retail grocery business and wanted to do more. They wanted to offer “Feel Good” comfort cuisine that you would want to see in your home. With a focus on homemade recipes using quality ingredients at great prices, they have been proudly serving Godley ever since. Chisholms has become a pillar in the Godley community with consistent outreach, partnering with the Godley schools , and hosting several local groups in their wonderful meeting space. Their large menu, fresh pies, seasonal specialties, amazing buffets, and a focus on service and hospitality are what has defined Chisholms. We hope you get a chance to experience this local favorite and learn why Godley residents never travel far for great food.

Things You Might Not Know About Us

Our food is always fresh, nothing frozen. We make everything homemade in our kitchens using quality ingredients.

Throughout the years we have come to be a part of the community in which we serve, moving to Godley in 2003. Chisholms became synonymous with Godley restaurants. We have supported the local schools, local churches, the chamber of commerce and our fire and police departments. We donate freshly baked desserts throughout the year for community fundraisers and events.

Jeff and Pam smoke their own brisket in the back lot on their smoker using expensive hickory wood. “I’ve tried pecan, oak and mesquite, but hickory makes the best BBQ,” says Jeff, who also is the restaurant’s own butcher! “I enjoy making my own cuts of meat so I can ensure every piece we serve to our customers is what I would expect from a high-end steakhouse.”

Most restaurants use the $6/gallon cheese cans for their nachos or cheese fries. We purchase specialty Monterey Jack premium cheese at $26/gallon to pour over your homemade tortilla chips! That’s “nacho” normal nachos!

We serve 100% angus beef patties, each weighing in at 1/2 pound! So if you order a double cheeseburger, our fan favorite, you’re getting a full ONE pound burger at a price those other places can’t compare to.

We prepare our salads from scratch. Sounds weird to say, but we don’t use pre-packaged salad greens. We freshly chop our own mix of romaine, green leaf, red leaf and spinach greens to create a moisture-rich crisp with every bite. We also make our ranch dressing from scratch! Did you know? Many of our customers love our ranch dressing so much that they purchase take-home containers!

What is the key breakfast item that keeps people coming back for more? Bacon! And we serve Wright’s thick-cut, Applewood Smoked Bacon, the best bacon in the whole world! We think : )

“I make my own gumbo loaded with shrimp, sausage, potatoes, carrots and onions. My salsa is made from scratch here using fire-roasted tomatoes with fresh cilantro and jalapeños. I make my own seafood salad, chili, and chicken and dumplings soup. We also have a secret recipe for our potato salad that people tell us is the best in the world” says Jeff. “We wanted to change the way people thought about small-town dining and offer dishes that were truly reminiscent of homemade farm-to-table cooking.”
